Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid rolled his ankle in Friday's practice and is questionable for the Sixers' game against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday.

Embiid appears to be a game-time decision for now, and the severity of his injury is unclear. Either way, it's not quite the way the Sixers wanted to start off their day.

Joel Embiid has been absolutely dominant so far this season. The Sixers big man is averaging 29.6 points, 12.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.4 blocks in five games in this season. Embiid has posted a ridiculous stat line in his last four games, in which he scored over 30 points and grabbed at least 10 rebounds in each of those games.

Embiid has been prone to injuries in the past, and the amount of minutes he has played on average so far this season (36) could prove to be a risky workload for the Sixers' star player. He missed the entire 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons due to a right foot injury. During his impressive 2016-17 rookie season, Embiid missed a chunk of the season when he tore his meniscus in his left knee. The Sixers would be wise to do their due diligence with Embiid going forward and not rush him back to action.

Ben Simmons will be called upon to take on an even larger role for the Sixers, and players like Amir Johnson, Mike Muscala, and Jonah Bolden could see increased minutes if Embiid is forced to miss any time.

As we await further news on Joel Embiid's injury, all we can do until then is “Trust The Process.”
