Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid has been in and out of the lineup over the last couple of weeks due to dealing with a nagging back injury.

Despite that, Embiid was able to play in the last two games including Christmas Day against the New York Knicks. However, Jessica Camerato of NBC Sports is reporting that the 23-year-old is questionable for Thursday contest against the Portland Trail Blazers.

This appears to more of a precautionary approach in handling Embiid given his well-document history of injuries over his brief NBA career. Keep in mind, he has already missed five games over nearly the last three weeks.

That said, Embiid also voiced on Thursday that he feels that he should be able to play against the Trail Blazers.

Embiid has performed quite well over the last two games that were highlighted by a double-double in the win over the Knicks where he registered 25 points with 16 rebounds along with three blocks. It adds to what's been a highly productive second year averaging a double-double with 23.1 points along with 11.1 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks in 25 games played.

The 76ers have hit a bit of a rut over the last couple of weeks dropping nine out of the last 11 games falling under .500 with a 15-18 record entering Thursday's contest.
