Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers came out of self-imposed retirement from social media to post a series of tweets in response to the Toronto Raptors dismantling of the Golden State Warriors in their NBA Finals series and going up 3-1.

The Cameroonian isn't normally in short supply of barbs and quips but after the Sixers untimely postseason demise, he has remained awfully quiet, only posting a concession message of sorts long after their semifinal series ended, thanking his team and the fans.

On Friday night, Embiid posted his first pair of tweets in a long while with the first tweet simply mentioning one word.

Then after a few minutes, followed up with the comedic punchline.

Embiid was likely referring to the mysterious illness that saw the normally imposing big man (who at one point dubbed himself the “most unstoppable player”) reduced into a shell of his former self, putting up 11, 12, 13, and 16 point clunkers with awful efficiency. No doubt this proved to be the catalyst to the Sixers' early exit with teammates Jimmy Butler, Ben Simmons, and Tobias Harris chipping in with their usual contributions.

It's unclear, however, what Embiid means of being “one away”. Had the Sixers got past the Raptors, they still had to contend with the league-leading Milwaukee Bucks which won the season series 2-1. And how they fare against the Warriors is drastically different from how the Raptors are handling them right now, sans Kevin Durant or the other notable players.

Still, Embiid is an MVP-caliber player leading a young upstart contender in the East that's bound to be seriously contending for years to come.

But he'd still need that handwash.
