A lot of Philadelphia 76ers fans began sweating bullets when various sports media outlets confirmed Joel Embiid's two-game suspension as it affected their match against the Portland Trail Blazers. The game was a lot closer than the Sixers would have liked, but they found an unlikely hero in Furkan Korkmaz.

The game was taken to the limit since Embiid wasn't there to impose his will down low. And it looked like the Sixers were going to lose their first game of the season when Anfernee Simmons made a big three-point shot to give the Blazers a two-point lead at the end of the half.

However, it was a dramatic finish as Korkmaz managed to break free from his marker, received a Bens Simmons inbounds pass to sink the dagger for a one-point victory. It was as dramatic as it could get.

Sixers Nation was ecstatic that the thrilling contest ended in their favor. However, no one could be as happy as Joel Embiid as he watched the team win despite his absence. He immediately took to Twitter to congratulate his teammate.

This is also a fantastic showing for Kurkmaz. He finished with 11 points on 44% shooting. However, he was effective from deep as he made three of his six long-range attempts. This performance builds a strong case for him as many are still unconvinced by what he offers on the table. The Sixer Sense's Christopher Kline detailed how difficult it is to rate Korkmaz as a player due to his on-court performances not living up to his potential.

This performance should have built confidence in him as he helped win the game without The Process.
