Joel Embiid was one of the first to congratulate Elton Brand for being appointed as the new Philadelphia 76ers  general manager. However, given that he is Joel Embiid, the 24-year-old Sixers star could not let this moment pass without roasting his former teammate.

Addressing the media in a recent press conference, Embiid shared that his first thought upon hearing the news of Brand's appointment was the time that he emphatically dunked on Brand a couple of years ago.

“As soon as I heard the news I thought about two years ago I remember dunking on him,” Embiid said via Sixers writer Keith Pompey. We actually talked about it when he got the job, when I texted him. I just remember dunking on him really bad.”

To be fair to Embiid, he was at least man enough to bring up the facial to his new boss face to face (or at least via text message).

Kidding aside, Embiid went on to praise Brand and his rapid rise to the GM's office.

“That's crazy. That was two years ago,” he added. “Two years ago he was still playing with us and [now] he's our GM. Much respect. I was happy for him.”

One of the reasons the Sixers appointed Brand as GM is for the very fact that he is relatable to the team's young core. Judging by Embiid's initial reaction, it appears that the move is already paying dividends for the organization.
