Philadelphia Sixers big man Joel Embiid is no stranger to controversial statements, this time setting his sights on former Chicago Bulls shooting guard Michael Jordan and his place as the greatest player in NBA history.
It is a discussion that many NBA fans, players, and just about everyone on the planet with an opinion, have been debating since time immemorial. With current Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James also giving Jordan a legitimate challenge for all time “GOAT” status, “The Process” felt the need to formally enter his bid on who he thinks is the best of all time.
“He’s not the GOAT,” Embiid recently said, via The Ringer. “To me, you got Wilt Chamberlain. I mean, he has all the records. They’re never gonna be beaten. I don’t see anybody getting 100 points in a game. That’s it. He’s the GOAT.”

Coming as absolutely no surprise, the up-and-coming Sixers superstar went with a fellow big man while choosing his “GOAT.”
While Jordan and LeBron should certainly always be in this conversation, it is hard to argue with Embiid's choice in Chamberlain. Without the presence of Chamberlain, and all of the other top players from this era, it would be impossible to know where the game would be today.
On the other hand, Embiid has now started an entirely new discussion because with Chamberlain entering the fold, how could former Boston Celtics center Bill Russell not be right there with him? The legendary Russell notably has whopping 11 NBA Championship rings after all.
