The Philadelphia 76ers finished the 2017-18 regular season with a 52-30 overall record, which landed the team a No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. The Sixers have their sights set even higher this upcoming season, and Joel Embiid says it will be a successful effort if they reach the NBA Finals.

The Sixers cruised by the Miami Heat in the first round of last year's playoffs, winning the series in 4-1 fashion. However, Philly was eliminated in five games by the Boston Celtics, who were without the services of Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, in the second round.

Though they were defeated in last year's playoffs, the Sixers are a team that continues to improve, and Embiid has played a big role in that process.

Embiid, now 24 years of age and entering his third season in the NBA, made 63 appearances with the Sixers during their 2017-18 campaign, racking up averages of 22.9 points on 48.3 percent shooting from the field (30.8 percent from beyond the arc), 11.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.8 blocks in 30.3 minutes per outing.

The Eastern Conference is up for grabs this season with LeBron James taking his talents to Hollywood to play for the Los Angeles Lakers, leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers after four years. The Celtics are getting both Hayward and Irving back from injury, and most people think they're the favorite. The Toronto Raptors will be in the mix as well with a healthy Kawhi Leonard.

So … where does all of this leave the Sixers? They should be right there in the mix. With some development and a little luck, they very well could make it to the Finals.
