Joel Embiid had his share of fun with a story coming from The Ringer detailing an alleged connection between five burner Twitter accounts and Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations Bryan Colangelo.

But the team's centerpiece ultimately shrugged off the notion of that being true, calling the report “insane.”

Embiid was quoted saying that if the report were true, it would be “very bad” for Colangelo and the reputation of the Sixers' front office.

The 7-foot jokester went on a like spree on Twitter and even retweeted some of the comments from those accounts, adding fuel to the fire, given that some of them were directly criticizing him and former teammates Jahlil Okafor and Nerlens Noel.

The extensive report details how The Ringer's Ben Detrick, who received an anonymous tip of this activity, went about following a trail that ultimately led back to Collangelo.

Detrick asked for comment on two of those account, and within hours of the call, the three other burner accounts were made private, which raised plenty of red flags.

The Sixers will conduct a private-party investigation to get to the bottom of this issue, one they consider of a “serious” degree, especially after a season in which the team has finally broken through and into the postseason.
