Load management is a controversial talking point in the NBA, as players could benefit from it in spite of the fans' disappointment in it. Even Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid doesn't approve of the method, even unleashing an expletive in the process. Derek Bodner reported what the Sixers big man thought of the concept after their 104-115 win over the San Antonio Spurs. He didn't hold back on lambasting the concept as he feels that it takes away important playing time from players like him.

Philly fans love that their star man is thinking like this, but they will also agree that he's the player who would benefit the most from this. He as injury-prone as he is talented. The team needs to take good care of his body if they want his peak to last longer than just a couple of years.

Moreover, there are players in the league who believe that their careers would have been saved by load management. Derrick Rose, who was robbed of his peak by multiple knee injuries, is one of them.

“It was just a different time in the sports world, period,” Rose said, via Yahoo! Sports. “Now, we have the term load management. I don't think I would have taken it as far as Kawhi [Leonard] as far as they're really being cautious about his injury or whatever he has. But if load management would have been around, who knows? I probably would have still been a Chicago Bull right now.”

It's in Embiid's best interests as a player that he takes load management seriously. He wouldn't be able to play for much longer if he isn't careful with his body.
