Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid appears to be all set to take the floor in the Sixers' opener against the Indiana Pacers on Saturday.

The All-Star center has been dealing with a calf issue in the bubble, but it appears he has been able to shake off the injury and will be suiting up for his team against Indiana.

Jack McCaffrey of the Daily times provided more details on Embiid's status for Saturday:

More encouraging for the Sixers, though, was that Joel Embiid did not show up on the report. He had missed all but the first half of the first game of the three-game exhibition season with tightness in his right calf.

While it is great to hear that Embiid will be taking the floor against Indiana, it remains to be seen if he will be on some sort of minutes restriction during the contest. As indicated in the report above, the Sixers' prized big man was unable to participate in his team's scrimmage games, except for a first-half appearance in their first match.

The fact that the entire league underwent a four-month hiatus is another concern with regards to Embiid's fitness level. He is not exactly the most robust player in the NBA, and such a long lay-off will almost certainly have an adverse effect on his overall game fitness.

Nonetheless, it is indeed encouraging not to see Embiid in the injury report. His play for the Sixers the rest of the way will have a tremendous effect on his team's postseason hopes this season.
