Joel Embiid arguably has the crown for having the best quips in the NBA. The Philadelphia 76ers center has taken on all comers – stars, mid-tier players, reserves, you name it. During Sunday’s post-game interviews, he was at it again, as he threw a subtle jab at a familiar foe.

REPORTER: What was your favourite memory [in the All-Star Game]?

EMBIID: Blocking Westbrook’s shot. I’m just kidding… I don’t know, just being introduced as an All-Star starter. My heart was beating really fast and I was shaking a little bit too, but that was probably my best memory.

Embiid was talking about his swat and rebound on Russell Westbrook in the second quarter, who drove to the rim through an outlet pass. It drew cheers from the crowd, as the great defensive play came right after he swished a 3-pointer that was a step away from the line.

The teasing is also an added chapter on the Sixers' big man and the reigning NBA MVP's series of heated exchange when facing each other. They have had their moments in both of their meetings this season. One had Westbrook waving goodbye following a win, and another had Embiid staring him down after a dunk.

Embiid has said that he “respect Russell's game,” but the back-and-forth is clearly not over. It's a shame that we won't likely see another Sixers-Thunder game until next year – since a Finals match-up is the only way it'll happen this season.

OKC won both meetings this season, one of which was a three-overtime, 119-117 classic.
