Trade and free agency rumors are circulating the league ahead of the 2022 NBA Draft and the free agency period. And, one of the most prominent discussions surrounds PJ Tucker joining the Philadelphia 76ers.

Tucker declined his $7.4 million player option with the Miami Heat earlier this week, sparking the conversations. He could be a huge acquisition for the Sixers this offseason. But, at the end of the day, Joel Embiid's opinion matters over anyone else's, as the team is being built around him.

So, how does the star center feel about the potential free agency signing?

After the Heat knocked the Sixers out of the playoffs, Embiid discussed the Sixers' need for a player like Tucker. He admired the forward's toughness, which was unlike anything Embiid had ever seen in Philadelphia.

Now, a month later, Embiid still feels the same way. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Sixers' pursuit of Tucker “has the strong backing” of Embiid.

Last season, PJ Tucker averaged 7.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. However, his most notable performance was in the playoffs. Tucker was a key contributor to the Heat's success through the East, especially while defending Embiid.

If the Sixers sign Tucker this offseason, the team marks the sixth NBA franchise he's been a part of since joining the league in 2006. It would also be Tucker's fourth team in just over a one-year span.
