Philadelphia 76ers star big man Joel Embiid never had a bad relationship with Sixers management, even when the franchise initially moved to cut pay for workers.

When the 2019-20 season was suspended in March, the Sixers owner Josh Harris planned to cut pay for salaried staffers. However, after a lot of backlash on social media, the cut was retracted.

In an interview with Business Insider, Embiid opened up about his relationship with the Sixers' upper management.

“I think in life, we all make mistakes,” Joel Embiid said. “Since I got to Philly, he's [Josh Harris] made me feel like a partner instead of treating me like someone who works for him. He values my input and we got it fixed.

“Our motto is that we want to treat everybody like family. Since I got here, they've treated me as such.”

Earlier in the year, Embiid pledged $500,000 to coronavirus relief and research effort. The All-Star was averaging 23.4 points, 11.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 44 games for the Sixers before games were suspended in March.

Embiid and the Sixers will be among the 22 teams partaking in the “bubble” games in Orlando, Florida. The 76ers have already clinched a playoff spot.

The Sixers have lost in the second round of the playoffs in the last two postseasons. The only way the team is going to make a title run at the “bubble” games is if both Embiid and Ben Simmons play like superstars.

Embiid has career averages of 24.1 points, 11.5 boards and 3.1 assists in 202 games with the Sixers.
