Philadelphia 76ers wing Josh Richardson is chipping in to help those in need. Amidst the current COVID-19 pandemic, many people are without jobs, money and food, leading to an increased need for meals.

That's where the Sixers forward stepped in.

The 26-year-old Richardson has partnered with Lineage Logistics to “support local food insecurity efforts in Philadelphia.” The fifth-year Sixers swingman is donating 500,000 meals to the project.

Per Sixers blog Liberty Ballers, Lineage Logistics is the world's largest and most innovative provider of temperature-controlled food logistics. Richardson's donation comes in partnership with the company's “Share a Meal” campaign and through Feeding America, the nation's largest domestic hunger relief program.

Both parties are working with Philadelphia food bank Philabundance, who works with over 350 agencies to serve over 90,000 people a week.

“I am blessed to be able to provide support during this unprecendented time,” said Josh Richardson, who has been with the Sixers for less than a year. “The City of Philadelphia, the people and the community have welcomed me with open arms and I will continue to do whatever I can to help as we get through this together.”

Prior to the season being postponed in March, the 6-foot-5 wing was in the midst of his first season in Philadelphia since being dealt from the Miami Heat last July. In 48 games for the Sixers, Richardson averaged 13.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists while shooting 42.9 percent from the field and 32.7 percent from beyond the arc.
