Josh Richardson is really excited for next season, and he's looking forward to a fresh start and better opportunity with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Richardson was acquired by the Sixers in a sign-and-trade deal that sent Jimmy Butler to the Miami Heat. Last season, he averaged 16.6 points and 4.9 rebounds, both of which are career highs. Although he might not be able to replicate those numbers in a stacked Philadelphia roster, he's still expected to play a vital role as they begin their hunt for a championship.

The Sixers were able to recover just fine even after losing Butler. Adding Richardson and Al Horford in free agency was already a great set of moves by the team's front office. They were also able to re-sign forward Tobias Harris. Those three, along with All-Stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, make Philly one of the best defensive teams in the league.

Richardson is expected to start at shooting guard for the Sixers. His primary task is to defend the opposing team's best wing player, which is similar to his role with the Heat. He also might be the second or third option on offense because of his ability to create his own shots.

The Sixers remain a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference, and if they will be able to build chemistry early in the regular season, do not be surprised to see them at the top of the standings. They have enough offensive and defensive firepower to make things difficult for opponents, and their window towards a potential championship run is wide open.
