Apparently, Duke University's moniker of “The Brotherhood” also applies to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Shooting guard Lou Williams posted a message of support for ex-Clippers teammate and current Philadelphia 76ers forward Mike Scott, who got into a scuffle with some Philadelphia Eagles fans prior to Philly's Week 1 contest against the Washington Redskins.

On his Instagram story, Williams vowed to protect Scott using “every resource” he has.

Scott — who is a native of Chesapeake, VA and a noted Redskins fan — was caught on video brawling with Eagles fans during a tailgate in front of Lincoln Financial Field. The cause for the incident is still unknown.

Williams and Scott were teammates with the Clippers for the majority of the 2018-19 season before Scott was dealt to the Sixers as part of a deal that also included Tobias Harris. The 31-year-old Scott re-signed with Philadelphia this offseason.

Despite their brief time together, it's nice to see Sweet Lou show his support to Scott. They may no longer be teammates, but the friendship undoubtedly remains.

It's yet to be determined what will happen next. Fights between fans is not entirely new, but it's rare to see a professional athlete get into it with fans. It's also unclear if the NBA will investigate the matter.
