According to a tweet from Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports, the Philadelphia 76ers made an announcement on Sunday regarding the injury status of rookie point guard Markelle Fultz.

The team gave an update on the first overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft and evaluated that Fultz will need to miss even more time.

This is not the news that Sixers fans wanted, but it appears the Philadelphia staff does not want to rush him back from his injury whatsoever and will have to re-evaluate him.

The team said that Fultz will continue with physiotherapy and begin progressing toward full basketball activities. He will be re-evaluated in approximately two to three weeks.

Fultz, who was taken by the Sixers in the 2017 NBA Draft over fellow rookies Lonzo Ball of the Los Angeles Lakers and Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics, has only appeared in four games this season.

The 19-year-old Fultz has mostly resisted taking jumpers while heavily relying on attacking the basket. He is shooting 33 percent this season on 9-of-27 shooting from the field and is just 6-of-12 from the charity stripe.

In 19 minutes of action per contest off the bench this season, Fultz is averaging just 6.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
