As part of a recent interview with Tom Moore of the Bucks County Courier Times, Sixers forward Mike Scott noted that Joel Embiid will be able to learn a lot from recently-acquired All-Star Al Horford.

The Sixers, who were eliminated from last season's playoffs in the second round, will have one of the more formidable frontcourts in the NBA this season. Embiid will anchor the center position and Horford will likely be playing the four.

Horford's move to to Philadelphia was one of the bigger moves of the offseason. He's a well-established veteran, and Sixers general manager Elton Brand is happy to have him aboard:

“We’re excited to welcome one of the NBA’s best frontcourt players in Al Horford to Philadelphia,” Brand told NBA.com after Horford officially joined the team. “He has built his reputation around hard work and a tradition of winning, which are the same qualities that have formed the foundation of the 76ers. Al’s playmaking, elite defensive talents and veteran leadership confirm why he is a crucial addition to our roster. We have gained a championship-level teammate that will not only complement our current makeup, but will help grow our young core as we strive for the highest level of success.”

Embiid, now 25 years of age and entering his fourth year of NBA service, is coming off of a great season with Philly, though he did miss some time due to a knee injury. The former No. 3 overall pick made 64 appearances (all starts), racking up averages of 27.5 points on 48.4 percent shooting from the field (30 percent from beyond the arc), 13.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.9 blocks in 33.7 minutes per outing.

Perhaps Embiid will learn a few tricks of the trade from Horford in the coming season. And if things go as planned, they'll look to feed off of one another in the post.
