The Philadelphia 76ers will be without one of their key players when they play Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday, with Sixers big man Joel Embiid sitting out the game.

According to the NBA's injury report, Embiid is listed as out due to load management. The All-Star center has been dealing with issues in his left knee in recent weeks.

Though this is certainly disheartening for Sixers fans, it is certainly the right move for a team that is looking to make a lot of noise in the East — hopefully all the way to the NBA Finals.

Philly still looks to be in terrific shape though even without Joel Embiid, as they still boast a lineup of Ben Simmons, Jimmy Butler, Tobias Harris and JJ Redick.

At this juncture, the Sixers hold a 48-27 record as well as a three-game lead over the fourth-seeded Indiana Pacers. The team’s dreaded nemesis, the Boston Celtics, currently hold the fifth seed, which means Philly and Boston wouldn’t be able to face each other until the Eastern Conference Finals at the earliest — if both teams make it that far.

With only seven games remaining on the schedule for Philadelphia, the team must make sure their star players are in the best possible health ahead of what will hopefully be a lengthy and fruitful playoff run.
