The Philadelphia 76ers are expected to conduct a coaching search after firing Brett Brown, but the interest in Los Angeles Clippers assistant Tyronn Lue is expected to be mutual, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Lue coached the Cleveland Cavaliers and won the 2016 championship over the Golden State Warriors in seven games. Since he's a former player, Lue is known for his ability to connect with NBA stars, as he had a good relationship with LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love in Cleveland.

Per Woj:

“The Sixers plan for a head coach will focus on LA Clippers assistant Tyronn Lue, sources said. Lue won a championship in 2016 as the Cleveland Cavaliers' head coach, and his ability to challenge and command the respect of high-level players makes him attractive to the Sixers — and others — in this job market.”

Lue went 128-83 with the Cavs in the regular season and 41-20 in the playoffs. He was fired on October 28, 2018 after the Cavs got off to a 0-6 start following James' departure to the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency.

The Sixers got swept by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the 2020 playoffs. Philadelphia was expected to lose to Boston since All-Star Ben Simmons wasn't playing. The former No. 1 overall pick underwent knee surgery after getting hurt during the seeding games at Walt Disney World.

However, not many pundits saw the Sixers getting swept since they have talented players such as Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris and Al Horford. In the end, Philadelphia looked like a team that had given up on its head coach.

Moving forward, the Sixers have to hire a coach who can motivate players and lead them to the promised land.
