The Philadelphia Sixers just had a dramatic season that was cut short by their loss in the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Toronto Raptors.

With the offseason just around the corner, the Sixers will have to make certain decisions, particularly regarding some of the team's free agents. They will also have an opportunity to get a young prospect; they are poised to select 24th overall in June's draft.

But if the basketball gods will favor Philly, it could land the first overall pick.

The NBA has already released the odds of each team in terms of getting the first overall selection in the draft, and the Sixers technically have a one percent chance to land the prized pick via the Sacramento Kings.

The Kings are expected to get the 14th overall. If their pick lands between 2-14, it will be conveyed to the Boston Celtics. However, if they win the first overall pick in the lottery, then the Sixers will have the rights to it.

Should that happen, Philly will have an opportunity to select either Zion Williamson, R.J. Barrett, or Ja Morant. That will immediately make them a more formidable team; those players are expected to be some of the league's best players within three to five years.

Imagine a team with Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Williamson/Barrett/Morant.

That will be one of the most exciting teams to watch next season.

Of course the odds are against the Sixers, but you never know.

That's why it's called a draft lottery.
