Philadelphia 76ers general manager Elton Brand is apparently in high demand in NBA circles, but it does not seem he is going anywhere.

Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported the New York Knicks have interest in Brand, but the Sixers brass are reportedly pleased with the job Brand has done as their GM and that they have no plans to release him from his contract.

The Sixers elevated Brand from Vice President of Basketball Operations to the general manger role in 2018, with Philly players past and present showing love for the promotion.

Brand has since been the driving force behind a series of key moves over the course of the last 18 months. He acquired Jimmy Butler from the Minnesota Timberwolves in Nov. 2018, a move that nearly propelled the Sixers to a berth in the Eastern Conference Finals after Butler starred in the playoffs.

Brand also traded for Tobias Harris before inking Harris to a long-term deal this past offseason. While Harris' slow start led to questions about that contract, he had since strung things together to post 19.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists through 65 games prior to the suspension of play.

The Al Horford contract has not worked out as swimmingly, and time will tell whether the Sixers can co-exist with both Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.

Aside from free-agent moves, however, Brand has shown his quality. He was able to make a deal on draft night to acquire defensive whiz Matisse Thybulle, who has show immense potential as a 3-and-D guy.

The Knicks and new top dog Leon Rose will have to look elsewhere because it appears the Sixers are committed to Elton Brand as the man who will steer their ship.
