The 2019-20 campaign has been a fairly dispiriting one for the Philadelphia 76ers. But after a win on Thursday against the New York Knicks, the team has its best home record through games since 1982-83, per the NBA’s Twitter account:

Though the 76ers have been dragged down by poor roster construction as well as a plethora of injuries, the 76ers are nearly unbeatable at home this season. The only two losses at home the 76ers have suffered came in back-to-back games in December.

The first was a nail-biter against the Miami Heat on December 18 that Philly lost, 108-104. The other was a shellacking two days later by the Dallas Mavericks 117-to-98. Clearly the team was thinking ahead to Christmas time.

A 28-2 record at home is staggering, and the team often looks nearly unbeatable at Wells Fargo Center. But they have one of the worst road records in the NBA – and easily the worst road record of any playoff-bound team in either conference with a putrid 9-21 record on the road.

Of course, though that home record is sure to be a minor salve for Philly fans, it still does not affect the fact that the team’s two best players – Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons – will likely be out for significant periods of time with injuries.

Simmons was injured due to the team’s seeming vanity for a nationally televised game. And the timetable for his return has not been set. Embiid suffered a shoulder injury in a road loss to the lowly Cavs, though an MRI revealed no structural damage.

Though the team is seemingly in tatters, they still have that sweet home record to hang their hat on this season – if nothing else.
