With the season nearing its midway point, a number of teams are already starting to prepare for the next few months which will reveal what their plans are moving forward. One of them is the Philadelphia 76ers, who are reportedly looking to sign former 17th overall pick in the 2014 draft James Young to a two-way contract, according to Adam Johnson of 2Ways10Days, adding more scoring option to the Sixers.

The Kentucky product spent three seasons with the Boston Celtics, appearing in a total of 89 regular season and 13 playoff contests for them. Young also received multiple assignments with the Maine Red Claws from 2014 to 2016 to have additional workouts and gain more games under his belt.

James Young owns career NBA averages of 2.3 points and 1.1 rebounds in 8.4 minutes per game.

After failing to generate interest from teams around the league during the offseason, Young brought his talents once again to the G League where he has been playing very well this season. The Sixers prospect is currently producing 22.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.4 steals through 19 games for the Wisconsin Herd, making a case for himself as someone who deserves another shot at playing at the highest level.

The shooting guard rotation of the Sixers is not as deep as what they have with their other positions which could give James Young the opportunity to see some relevant playing time and showcase his improved skill set.

With the two-way contract he'll receive, the Sixers will also have the option to pull him out of the active lineup on any given night and send him back to the G-League to gain more experience.
