The Los Angeles Lakers got more than they bargained for with the Philadelphia 76ers last night at Staples Center. Amidst all the buzz surrounding this matchup of young stars, it was Sixers big man Joel Embiid that shined brighter than the rest.
Embiid finished with a career-high 46 points on an efficient 14-of-20 shooting from the field. He looked virtually unstoppable as Philadelphia was not shy about feeding him in the post. According to Bob Garcia of SportsWest1, Sixers forward Robert Covington said the game plan was clear.
Robert Covington on playing with Joel Embiid: “You got to feed the monster. Teams are going to do so much in how they are going to guard him but when Jo is rolling you got to feed him. Not a lot of guys can’t stop him.” #sixers

The Sixers used Joel Embiid heavily in the post down the final stretch of the game as he made mincemeat of pretty much every Lakers defender. More importantly, he made the right decisions every time they finally decided to double-team the dynamic big man.
Joel Embiid made his presence felt in every facet of the game with 15 rebounds, seven assists, and seven blocks. Philadelphia's success tonight and throughout the season has shown that good things happen when they decide to trust the process.
