Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger recently landed in some hot water after voicing his planned reluctance to help out rookie quarterback Mason Rudolph. This has further increased the negative stigma that has surrounded Roethlisberger's personality throughout his career.

The notion of the veteran's cold demeanor has been confirmed by Philadelphia 76ers point guard T.J. McConnell. According to Andrew Perloff of the Dan Patrick Show, McConnell recalled a time meeting Roethlisberger, who was not exactly the type of guy young McConnell hoped he would be:

“I respect him as a player, but he wasn't exactly the nicest guy.” – Sixers guard T.J. McConnell says that he had a less than pleasant experience with hometown hero Ben Roethlisberger in 6th grade. T.J. was so mad he started rooting for the Bengals.

It is always unfortunate to hear about the negative stories fans can sometimes experience. That said, they are few and far in between. However, it has come back to haunt Roethlisberger in this case.

Although McConnell did not give much detail about the interaction, it had to be pretty bad if it made the Pittsburgh native start rooting for an AFC North division rival like the Cincinnati Bengals. Fortunately, that experience did not deter him from accomplishing his dreams while likely aspiring not to ever leave fans feeling the same way.

Despite his massive success on the field, Roethlisberger has led a tumultuous career thanks to his troubled past. Instances such as these just make it even more difficult to cheer on said player, minus fans of the team they play for.
