It has been a very good past week for sports in the city of Brotherly Love since the Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl victory on Feb. 4. After the Eagles won their first-ever Super Bowl title with a 41-33 win over the New England Patriots, the Philadelphia Flyers and Philadelphia 76ers have both won each of their four games. On Monday night against the New York Knicks, the magic continued when Philly point guard T.J. McConnell became the first ever Sixers player to record a triple-double off the bench.

In the Sixers' 108-92 win over the Knicks, McConnell made team history in his first career triple-double effort off the bench with 10 points on 5-of-11 shooting, 11 assists, 10 rebounds, and a whopping six steals on the night.

The impressive factoid was dug up and posted on Twitter by ESPN Stats & Info.

During his postgame press conference after the victory, Sixers head coach Brett Brown was especially impressed with McConnell's triple-double performance.

Via a tweet from Zack Rosenblatt of NJ.com:

“I just think it’s the thing that endears him to all of us. You respect him. You really respect him. He just plays so hard. He’s a wonderful lesson for so many basketball players for what perseverance and toughness can bring you to,” coach Brown said.

In an article written after the game by Rosenblatt, McConnell was very humble about his historic performance and he did not forget to give a lot of credit to his teammates.

“I just kinda took the shots when they came to me. I got some rebounds and my teammates did a good job making shots. All credit to them. It wouldn't be possible without them.”

The victory, which was the Sixers' 10th consecutive win at Wells Fargo Arena, improved the young Philly team to 29-25 on the season. They may be on the heels on finally putting the entire East on notice that they will be a dangerous playoff foe, should they maintain their position, at least.
