With the February 10th NBA trade deadline approaching in less than four weeks, the trade speculation has been rampant around pretty much every team in the league, but most especially the Philadelphia 76ers. Most of the Sixers trade rumors have been about AWOL superstar Ben Simmons, but recent reports have thrown Sixers forward Tobias Harris into the mix as well.

On Wednesday, just 24 hours after the report came out saying that Harris was on the trade block, the Sixers had Tobias take an MRI on the shoulder that has been bothering him. Perhaps the reasoning for the MRI had something to do with the trade talk, or it could be completely unrelated. Even through all of the uncertainty, two things are clear: Harris has shoulder tendinitis and he plans to play through it.

Harris owed $77 million over the next two years (after this one) and Simmons is owed $113 million over the next three. Taking on $190 million is going to be tough for any team to swallow, let alone figuring out how to match the salaries to fit into the NBA's rules. It is more likely that the two are dealt away separately or not dealt at all.

One other thing to consider here is why Harris' name is being floated out there in the first place. Teams do not leak information by accident and if they want the public to know he's available then why? The most common answer to that equation is that the general manager (GM) is covering his bases with the fans in case he does nothing at the deadline. With Sixers GM Daryl Morey, though, he has never been much of a bet hedger. He likes to go all in. Maybe that will be the case this deadline, but for now, we sit back and watch as the drama unfolds over the next month.
