It was the last stop in Philadelphia as the 76ers broke the news to three players that they had been waived in what was a last round of teams shedding players to adhere to the league's maximum roster number. Kris Humphries, Emeka Okafor, and James Blackmon Jr. missed the cut and will all be waived on Saturday.

The three players were all informed of the team's decision not to keep them under contract just shortly after the entertaining win over the Miami Heat, 119-95, in the team's final preseason game where center Joel Embid got into a trash talking bout that continued on Twitter with Heat center Hassan Whiteside after getting him into foul trouble.

The Sixers made this move just in time as they are currently down to 17 players prior to the start of the season.

Monday is the league's official deadline for all teams to cut down their rosters to 15 guaranteed contracts and two additional players on two-way deals for the 2017-18 season. Each designated two-way player will go play and can be recalled from the formerly known NBA development league which is now rebranded as the NBA G-League.

Along with the waivers, the Sixers also chose James McAdoo as one of those designated two-way contract receivers this summer.

Emeka Okafor who has been out of the league for a number of years after recovering from injury had hopes of returning to the NBA after last playing for the Washington Wizards in the 2012-13 season. His career started in 2004 when he was drafted by the Charlotte Bobcats as the second overall pick but never panned out as a star. Since that draft, Okafor played nine seasons in the league between the Bobcats, New Orleans Hornets, and WashingtonWizards.

He was traded to the Phoenix Suns prior to the 2013-14 season, but never played due to a herniated disc in his neck and has been out of the league for the past three years.

Kris Humphries, also drafted in 2004, has played for nine teams during his career and spending his last two years off the bench for the Atlanta Hawks.

James Blackmon Jr., who hasn't been drafted, played on the Sixers' summer league team and is looking for the opportunity to get his shot with an NBA team.
