It's no secret that Philadelphia 76ers president Daryl Morey wants a superstar in return for Ben Simmons. Morey is reportedly willing to keep Simmons past the trade deadline in order to make this happen, with names like James Harden, Damian Lillard, Bradley Beal and Jaylen Brown on his list of top targets.

Harden, Lillard and Brown aren't going anywhere right now, but buzz is starting to pick up again about Beal's future. While Beal hasn't requested a trade and the Washington Wizards currently don't have interest in dealing him, there are apparently some signs that the star guard could be wavering.

If the Sixers and Wizards do engage in trade talks involving Simmons and Beal, Washington would want more in return for its franchise player. However, according to David Aldridge and Josh Robbins of The Athletic, Philly has no interest in including either blossoming guard Tyrese Maxey or defensive stalwart Matisse Thybulle in a deal.

This is somewhat understandable given Maxey's Year 2 breakout and Thybulle's prowess on the defensive end. However, if the Sixers are going to actually get a superstar in return for Simmons, they're likely going to have to be prepared to part with something else valuable. As good as Simmons is, he hasn't played basketball all season and has a fatal flaw that hurts come playoff time.

For right now, the Wizards seem focused on making a big move to help Beal out, with Domantas Sabonis and Jerami Grant as trade targets. But if Beal ultimately decides he wants a new home, Philly will be ready to pounce. It's just a matter of what the Sixers are willing to put on the table.
