The Philadelphia 76ers signing P.J. Tucker away from the Miami Heat this offseason. The veteran 3-and-D specialist signed a three-year, $33 million deal with the Sixers, but it may come with an additional cost.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Sixers are likely to be investigated by the NBA. Since Tucker's contract was announced right as soon as free agency started and he is joining a team full of people he used to work with (James Harden and Daryl Morey), it's safe to say the league is looking into whether Philadelphia tampered.

I'm told that Philadelphia's signing of P.J. Tucker is also likely to be placed under the investigation microscope by the league office…This Substack reported on June 26 — four days before the start of free agency — that numerous rival teams were already convinced that Tucker was Philly-bound. Tucker's three-year, $33 million deal to join the Sixers was duly announced by his agent one minute into free agency.

The Sixers signed Tucker away from the Heat, who themselves were investigated for tampering over their trade for Kyle Lowry. The 37-year-old will look to be a key player for Philly as they look to break through to the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Heat and Milwaukee Bucks were hit with tampering violations that ultimately led to them each losing a second-round draft pick. The Sixers and New York Knicks, whose signing of Jalen Brunson may cause them to get hit with a tampering violation, might be next to receive a punishment.
