It seems it's not only Joe Johnson who will have a workout with the Philadelphia 76ers. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Sixers are also taking a look at veteran NBA big man Spencer Hawes,

Hawes played three-plus seasons for the Sixers and was actually Philly's starting center during the 2013-14 campaign before being shipped to the Cleveland Cavaliers at the trade deadline. During that span, Hawes started in 203 of 253 games and averaged 10.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.2 blocks while shooting just over 46 percent from the field.

The former lottery pick last played with the Milwaukee Bucks during the 2016-17 season. In 2018-19, he spent time in the NBA G League with the South Bay Lakers, where he averaged 14.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.4 blocks in nine games.

Philly just added former All-Star center Al Horford to bolster the frontcourt alongside Joel Embiid, and both Jonah Bolden and Kyle O'Quinn are on the current roster. However, the addition of Hawes could make for a truly monstrous front line. Hawes' ability to step out and shoot the three — he shot over 45 percent from deep in the G League — is certainly an appealing quality.

Despite losing Jimmy Butler, the Sixers are still in prime position to make a run in the Eastern Conference. One of the knocks on Philly has been their bench play, but the possibility of adding both Johnson and Hawes to the mix could go a long way towards solving perceived depth issues.
