Ben Simmons remains a member of the Philadelphia 76ers, although he wishes he wasn't. Simmons has reportedly no interest in going back to the Sixers, prompting the team to entertain scenarios in which they trade away their All-Star.

Although it looks like Simmons' time with Philadelphia is over, the Sixers own the control. Simmons is under contract with them until the 2024-25 season. While trading him away makes sense, the Sixers don't have to give in to his demands. They have chosen to ride out the storm so far, and seem prepared to do so for even longer.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Simmons-Sixers ordeal may not be close to being over. NBA Today host/ESPN reporter Malika Andrews asked him if there was any movement on the Simmons trade front.

“Malika, there is no movement. And listen, we may be in this situation all the way until the NBA Draft,” Wojnarowski said.

Philadelphia is enjoying a seven-game winning streak at the moment, but they do not look like championship contenders. If they cannot sustain this impressive level of play, the front office may be inclined to move him with the hopes of infusing their rotation with more talent.

Wojnarowski also reported that Simmons' agent, Rich Paul, met with Sixers brass and that Simmons still has no desire to go back to the team.

It's tough to gauge Simmons' trade value right not given that he hasn't played all season. If traded, he will need some time to get his conditioning right before playing again. Philadelphia would prefer that Simmons rejoin the team but their prayers seem to be far from getting answered.
