Despite opting not to play for his home country Australia at the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China, Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons is with the Boomers to support them during their training camp. While in Australia, however, the Sixers point-forward was reportedly denied entry at a Melbourne casino.

On a now-deleted Instagram story, Simmons detailed how he and two friends of color were not allowed to enter the Crown Casino. What surprised Simmons more is that one of his friends Alex Subers, who was white, was allowed in.

“I find it so crazy that the only guy who doesn’t get checked to go into the casino is this guy,” Simmons said, indicating Subers.

He added: “Wow, we got a long way to go.”

The former NBA's Rookie of the Year winner then sarcastically thanked Crown Casino and also slyly smiled while displaying the casino's security in the background.

Simmons and the Sixers agreed to a five-year contract extension during the summer, totaling $170 million for young star. While he won't appear for Team Australia in the FIBA World Cup, Simmons announced last month that he still plans on playing for his country in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

Simmons has previously played for Australia's junior teams. In 2012, he played for the U-17 team that lost to the United States in the championship game. On the other hand, he played for the senior team in 2013 and helped the Bommers in defeating New Zealand for the gold medal in the FIBA Oceanic Championship.
