During the Tuesday night matchup between the Philadelphia 76ers and Washington Wizards, Sixers guard Landry Shamet caught fire from three-point range, hitting a career-high eight three-pointers and leading all scorers with 29 points.

He was so hot that Philadelphia's superstar center, Joel Embiid, stopped midgame to make sure that Shamet wasn't running too high of a temperature:

As the 18th pick in the 2018 NBA draft, Shamet has impressed in his time with the Sixers. The Wichita State product has only missed one game for his team, putting up solid numbers for his squad. He's currently averaging 7.7 points and 1.5 rebounds per game, but his best quality is his shooting stroke.

Shamet is shooting 38.5 percent from deep, giving the Sixers another threat from three-point range. This is incredibly important for the team, as point guard Ben Simmons relies on shooters to draw away defenders to score inside and facilitate the offense.

Additionally, Embid is shooting a subpar 29.7 percent from downtown and three-and-D forward Robert Covington now plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Without players other than wings J.J. Reddick and Jimmy Butler to knock down shots, the team becomes too one dimensional on the offensive side of the floor.

Shamet looks like he has the potential to be a solid role player and sharpshooter. If he continues to knock down shots at this range, he will become a highly coveted player and get even more time when the Sixers make a playoff push.
