Joel Embiid is one of the best basketball players in the world, but it doesn't look like he's joining the Premier League anytime soon. Embiid's failed attempt at a bicycle kick was caught on Instagram.
Embiid won't be fooling anyone into thinking he's a soccer player. Although he missed the kick, the 7-footer looks surprisingly light on his feet. He nearly converted on this attempt and sprung right back to his feet afterward.
The Cameroonian big man is a huge soccer fan and he's played the sport his whole life. He's even gone as far as to say he's the best soccer player in the NBA. There's no way to know for sure, but he very well could be.
Embiid is enjoying his offseason while he can. The big man and the Sixers are looking to take the next step next season after bowing out in the second round of the playoffs.
Joel Embiid led the way for Philly in the playoffs. He averaged 21.4 points, 12.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game in eight playoff games despite the team's tough series against Boston. The undermanned Celtics team held Ben Simmons in check for most of the series. Simmons, Embiid, and the Sixers couldn't overcome the scrappy Boston squad.
The 24-year-old and Philly will need to contend with that same Boston squad plus Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward. Not to mention, the new look Toronto Raptors should be dangerous in the Eastern Conference this year as well.
