Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics thought he outran the Philadelphia 76ers transition defense. Little did he know that Joel Embiid was lurking behind.

Check out Embiid's chase down block on Brown in the clip below posted by the NBA. It was as if he purposely let Brown get ahead of him so he can swat the ball from behind and give the Sixers a big boost.

Embiid is one of the best defensive big men out there. Last season, he was named into the NBA All-Defensive Second Team. He even strongly believed that he'll be named Defensive Player of the Year.

For the season, he's averaging 1.96 blocks per game for 8th in the league. He's making another strong case for yet another All-Defensive team selection.

However, despite Embiid's efforts, it was Brown and the Celtics who came away with the victory over the Sixers, 112-109. The match-up, which could be a preview of the Eastern Conference Finals, proved to be a close-knit battle.

Embiid led the Sixers with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Not far behind was Jimmy Butler who logged in 22 points and nine rebounds.

The Celtics, meanwhile, got an inspired performance from Gordon Hayward who dropped 26 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field and 6-of-7 from 3-point country.

It was a great team effort by the Celtics who missed the services of Kyrie Irving who's out with a knee injury.
