After having one of the weirdest rookie seasons in recent memory, Philadelphia 76ers second-year guard Markelle Fultz is trying to just focus on Sixers basketball this year and avoid all the outside noise.

Fultz, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, only played in 14 games last year with the Sixers due to scapular muscle imbalance in his right shoulder. The injury affected his jump shot and confidence and Fultz apparently developed the yips.

Entering Saturday, Markelle Fultz was shooting 39.5 percent from the field, 30.8 percent from beyond the arc, and 62.1 percent from the free-throw line. He still doesn't look confident shooting the ball, but that's not going to stop the 20-year-old from dunking on people.

During the Sixers' road loss Saturday to the Memphis Grizzlies, Markelle Fultz dunked over two Grizzlies players, showing off his athleticism:

You have to feel good for Fultz. Anything he does that is positive is a step in the right direction.

When the Sixers drafted Markelle Fultz, the prevailing thought was he was going to be the franchise point guard for years to come and the third piece of the team’s Big 3 alongside Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid.

So far, that hasn’t been the case with Fultz. To make things even worse, the third overall pick in the 2017 draft, small forward Jayson Tatum, had an amazing rookie season with the Boston Celtics. The Sixers traded the No. 3 pick to Boston to move up to No. 1 to select Fultz.

Hopefully, Fultz can find his jump shot and be a special player for Philadelphia.
