Sony announces the EVO Community Series, a group of events leading up to this year's EVO 2021 Online FGC tournament. After gaining ownership of the tournament series in March this year, Sony takes over the entirety of the circuit.

This year, EVO 2021 goes completely online. On top of this, there will be a series of smaller tournaments leading up to the main event of this year. This series of events, the EVO Community Series, will have a total of $74,000 in prizes and 100 hours of broadcast. It will debut on June 10 and will run until the last series of matches on August 3, 2021. Sony's blog post reads:

“As part of this community celebration, PlayStation is hosting three tournaments from June 10 through August 3. Eligible PS4 players in select regions across the globe will be able to participate in these open-format competitions for a chance to vanquish rivals and win cash prizes (details below). Select matches will be broadcast on the PlayStation Twitch and YouTube channels, as well as Evo’s Twitch channel.”

Meanwhile, the world's top fighting game players will compete in the EVO 2021 Online tournament. Players can now start registering for the tournament on the registration page. The tournament will run from August 6-8 and from August 13-15. The games slated for the tournament series include:

  • Guilty Gear Strive
  • Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate
  • TEKKEN 7
  • Street Fighter V Champion Edition
  • BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle
  • Dragon Ball FighterZ

  • Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs. Maxi Boost ON
  • Skullgirls 2nd Encore
  • Soulcalibur VI
  • Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late
