Super Smash Bros. Ultimate now has its 89th and final SSBU fighter: Sora, the main character of the Kingdom Hearts series, completes the SSBU roster.

Kingdom Hearts' Sora joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as Final Fighter

Game Director Masahiro Sakurai held his final SSBU presentation to reveal the final DLC packs for the game. Firstly, he revealed the final Mii Fighter Costumes. Mii Fighter Costumes #11 DLC pack includes new unique costumes from Splatoon, as well as Doom Guy (who was one of our predictions for the final SSBU Fighter). The Mii Fighter Costumes #11 DLC will be coming out on October 18, 2021.

Then, Sakurai ultimately revealed the final SSBU fighter to join the roster: Sora of Kingdom Hearts. Of course, along with Sora comes along new stages, soundtracks, as well as stickers and cameo appearances. Sora is floatier and less weighty compared to other fighters, making him easy to launch. However, this gives him additional maneuverability, and in fact thrives in fighting in mid-air. He wields a keyblade, and wears different versions of his clothes from across the SSBU franchise.

After presenting Sora's movesets and unique features, Sakurai then revealed the upcoming amiibos to be released in 2022 and beyond. Minecraft‘s Steve and Alex will be the first ones to arrive. Up next are Sephiroth, Pyra, Mythra, and Kazuya. We do hope that the next set of amiibos will also include Kingdom Hearts characters. One could hope.

If you've yet to jump into the series, you can purchase Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch on Amazon.
