The Los Angeles Lakers are one win away from their 17th championship as a franchise and they have Anthony Davis to thank for it. He was phenomenal in Game 4 both defending Jimmy Butler and hitting some crucial shots down the stretch against the Heat's tough zone defense.

On the daily Locked On Lakers Podcast, hosts Anthony Irwin and Pete Zayas (LakerFilmRoom) break down the Lakers Game 4 win and how Anthony Davis has proven to be one of the best players in the game.

Anthony Irwin: To me one of the takeaways here on top of everything that we saw from him defensively, hitting that shot given what was at stake if he misses it, especially coming off of how poor performance he had in the game prior, putting all of that aside, stepping up and knocking down that shot might be a pretty huge moment for Anthony Davis in his career.

Pete Zayas: Absolutely and for having that defensive performance and then hitting that shot… He was so active defensively and when you're that active defensively, you lose your legs a little bit. This was a game, unlike Game 3, where both teams were in it. We were locked in this whole game in terms of effort level. The Lakers were playing really hard this whole game and AD had the greatest defensive responsibility. So, to be able to shoot a flat-footed stare down and raise up three like that with all of the mileage on his legs in this particular game at that intensity level… It was so so impressive.

The work that he did on Jimmy Butler and Bam [Adebayo]… he had some searches onto Bam that were phenomenal… He had so much defensive responsibility in this game and he executed it with flying colors. It was perimeter defense. It was interior defense. It was switching. It was communicating. He had huge rebounds. Just a virtuoso defensive performance and he can still do what he did on the offensive end. He had a couple of big shots, hit a baseline jumper late in the shot clock where Miami was running some 1-2 zone here and there that was confusing us… Just to put it all together defensively, and that elite shotmaking man, he's, he's got a strong argument for the best player in the game.
