The Space Jam sequel gets a game tie-in that lets players control LeBron James and beat up robots. Meanwhile, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will get to sample the game ahead of the world. The game comes out exclusively on the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Perks service on July 1. But don't worry, LeBron fans – Space Jam: A New Legacy – The Game comes out on July 15 free-for-all through the Microsoft Store.

According to Bugs BunnySpace Jam: A New Legacy – The Game was made as part of a contest where people came up with ideas for a Space Jam game. The resulting product is a love letter to the retro era from when the original Space Jam came from. Nostalgia aside, the game looks like a fun ‘beat-em-up, where players control LeBron James to beat up robots alongside Bugs Bunny and Lola Bunny. The pixelated style sits well with its format – a lot of beat-'em-ups embrace this aesthetic – but it's fun to see a LeBron James sprite in 2021. This might also be the first time you get to play as LeBron James outside of an NBA 2K game.

Apart from the game, Microsoft is also helping Warner Bros. promote the upcoming film by releasing themed Xbox Wireless Controllers. There are three designs to choose from, with a Tune Squad model really giving us the Looney Tunes vibe.

Space Jam: A New Legacy comes out in theaters and on HBO Max on July 16.
