Tom Izzo and his Michigan State Spartans are still dancing in the 2022 NCAA Tournament after passing a tough test in the first round.  The seventh-seeded Spartans avoided an upset Friday by defeating the 10-seed Davidson Wildcats to the tune of a 74-73 score, which means that Michigan State is on a collision course with Mike Krzyzewski and the Duke Blue Devils.

After the victory over Davidson, a relieved Izzo had a little something to say about the thrilling game.

Via ESPN:

“I thought it was a little bit of a roller-coaster,” Hall of Fame coach Tom Izzo said.

Davidson gave the Spartans all they could handle, but Izzo's boys were ready for the challenge — especially Joey Hauser. The Marquette transfer saved the day for Michigan State, as he dropped 27 points on 9/12 shooting from the field, including a 4/6 performance from behind the arc.

The upcoming chess match between Izzo and Krzyzewski will be just as interesting as the game itself between Michigan State and Duke. Both coaches are legends of the college basketball world, as long-tenured bench bosses of an established program. Duke also advanced to the second round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament by knocking out the Cal State Fullerton Titans in a much easier fashion than Michigan State's first-round victory.

Beating Coach K would be sweet for Izzo, considering that he's only 3-12 in 15 meetings with Krzyzewski.
