To honor the passing of the late, great Stan Lee, Brooklyn Nets point guard Spencer Dinwiddie will wear a custom pair of shoes during Wednesday night's game against the Miami Heat, according to a report from Ian Begley.

According to Begley, Dinwiddie produced the comic-themed shoes himself and will wear a different variant in each Nets game for the remainder of this season. As a thoughtful gesture, the shoes will later be auctioned off to benefit youth charities.

Dinwiddie's tribute sneakers have several notable features. The Hulk's gnarling face can be seen emerging from the toe, while Captain America's shield defends the right tongue. The words “Rest In Superpowers” are written across the belt of the shoes.

Lee passed away earlier this week at the age of 95. Over the course of his life, the legendary artist co-created some of the most successful comic titles of all time, including The Fantastic Four, Spider Man, The X-Men, Iron Man, Hulk, and Thor.

“I never thought that Spider-Man would become the worldwide icon that he is. I just hoped the books would sell and I'd keep my job,” Lee told CNN in 2006.

Lee became one of the greatest artists of this era. However, there were times when he felt that his field of work was less important than others. His thoughts were shifted once he realized how vital the entertainment industry is.

“I used to be embarrassed because I was just a comic-book writer while other people were building bridges or going on to medical careers,” Lee told the Washington Post. “And then I began to realize: entertainment is one of the most important things in people's lives. Without it they might go off the deep end. I feel that if you're able to entertain people, you're doing a good thing.”

Dinwiddie and the Nets will be back on the court Wednesday night, as they're scheduled to host the Miami Heat. Tip-off inside the Barclays Center is set for 7:30 p.m. EST.
