Legendary director and longtime New York Knicks supporter Spike Lee is firing back at the statement the Knicks released in light of his dispute ahead of Monday night's game at Madison Square Garden.

Lee went on ESPN's “First Take” Tuesday to tell his side of the story, and shortly afterward the Knicks put out a statement telling their side. Lee then spoke to Sopan Deb of The New York Times and went off:

Lee has been a fixture at Knicks games for years, despite the fact that the team has played poorly for quite some time. He's usually sitting courtside, cheering his team on.

Prior to Monday's game, Lee made his way into The Garden by way of an employee entrance. Apparently, the Knicks had previously asked him to use a special VIP entrance. It was this simple mistake that led to the debacle.

Lee later noted that he has used the same entrance for years:

“No one told me!” Lee was heard yelling in the video clip. “I'm staying right here! Now if you want to arrest me like Charles Oakley, then go ahead!”

As part of his ESPN interview, Lee noted that he will not be attending any more Knicks games at The Garden this season. The popular director even went as far as claiming that he was being harassed by Knicks owner James Dolan.

Whether or not Lee was indeed harassed, he is clearly upset with the way the situation was handled. This is an ugly situation in the wake of the Knicks' big win over the Rockets and Leon Rose taking over as team president. Lee has given a lot of money and time to the Knicks, and the franchise shouldn't want to be in an ugly feud with a marquee fan.
