The issue also brought to light the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb-news-former-all-star-andrew-miller-gets-brutally-honest-about-the-state-of-mlb/">various issues the MLB has been facing</a>, including dwindling interest and outdated rules. The seeming indifference of MLB commissioner Rob Manfred toward players was also questioned. But last week, he vowed to rebuild relationships and repair the league’s image.</p><p><a href="https://theathletic.com/3220787/2022/03/30/rosenthal-rob-manfred-meeting-with-mlb-players-in-effort-to-improve-relationship-post-lockout/">The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal</a> reported that Manfred already met with the players, with several MLB stars expressing their willingness to help. Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon said he appreciated the dialogue with Manfred.</p><blockquote>“I did have the opportunity to ask about some of the past decisions Major League Baseball and Rob Manfred have made. That was a good opportunity. There are a lot of decisions I don’t necessarily agree with that they’ve made. That meeting gave me a chance to ask about them.”</blockquote><p>Chicago White Sox pitcher Liam Hendriks, meanwhile, reminded that the MLB should be a collective effort.</p><blockquote>“You need that relationship to be strong. It’s been strained over the last little bit. Both sides need to take steps to repair that. Getting a sit-down meeting is important just to build that relationship so that when something is brought up in future years, the immediate thought isn’t, ‘OK, what’s he trying to trick us with? Is there an ulterior motive?’”</blockquote><p>Philadelphia Phillies baseman Rhys Hoskins was hopeful that Manfred isn’t just all talk.</p><blockquote>“I think those conversations are needed, quite frankly, for him to really get a good perspective of the way that the people playing the game on the field feel. I hope there’s more. I really do. I assume that there’s going to be. I hope it lasts longer than a couple months after the lockout.”</blockquote><p>At this point, it appears things are headed in the right direction for the MLB. Despite its shortcomings, baseball remains a huge part of the tapestry in the United States, with its global reach continuously growing. The first few steps have been made, and now, every stakeholder must uphold a part in ensuring the league won’t suffer further.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

The deal included this player option for the 2022 season, along with a $10 million player option for the 2023 campaign.</p><p>Blackmon is just coming off of a rollercoaster regular season with the Rockies. He did once again have his way at Coors Field, as he hit .283 and recorded 11 home runs in 75 home games. However, he did post lows not seen since his rookie campaign in numerous stats, which included his notable .305 BABIP.</p><p>There was much uncertainty as to whether he would go on to complete the season with Colorado. He was regularly in the rumor mill regarding a possible departure at the MLB trade deadline in July. As he does have a <a href="https://www.mlb.com/news/rockies-trade-offers-charlie-blackmon" rel="noopener">reported</a> 15-team no-trade clause in his contract deal with the team, he wound up staying put past the July 30 trade deadline.</p><p>In the big picture, the Rockies may soon have notable gaps to fill across their roster, especially as the likes of Trevor Story and Jon Gray could be on par to become free agents. It remains to be seen on just how the Rockies will approach free agency following their 74-87 campaign last <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/mlb/colorado-rockies" rel="noopener">season</a>.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
