Depending on how you look at it, New York Mets third baseman Eduardo Escobar’s game-winning single in his team’s <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb-odds-marlins-vs-mets-prediction-odds-and-pick-9-28-2022/">5-4</a> victory over the Miami Marlins at home was the night’s most important hit between the two New York big league clubs, considering that the Mets are in an incredibly tight race with the Atlanta Braves for the National League East division crown.</p><p>It was hardly the only notable at-bat made by Eduardo Escobar. In fact, his bat drove all the runs scored in the game by the Mets. According to <a href="https://twitter.com/ESPNStatsInfo/status/1575322699672567809" rel="noopener">ESPN Stats &amp; Info</a>, it’s the first time in nearly three decades that a Mets player was able to drive that many runs plus the game-winning RBI.</p><p>“Eduardo Escobar drove in all 5 of the Mets’ runs tonight and walked off the Marlins in the 10th inning. In the bottom of the same frame, Eduardo Escobar went to work and blasted a two-run homer to cut the Marlins’ lead in half. He would later drive Pete Alonso and Brandon Nimmo in the eighth inning to tie the game at 4-4. Escobar would cap the night with the aforementioned game-winning single that sent Francisco Lindor home. The 33-year-old infielder is now batting .240 with 20 home runs and 68 runs batted in to his name this season.</p><p>Paired with the loss of the Atlanta Braves to the Washington Nationals on the same day, the Mets’ victory over the Marlins gave New York a one-game lead in front of the Braves for the top spot in the division.</p><p>The Mets and the Braves will play a three-game series in Atlanta that starts on Friday.</p><p>Hopefully for the Mets, Eduardo Escobar will stay hot and produce yet again in that crucial series that will likely determine who wins the NL East division title.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

He became the first Met since 2012 to hit for the Cycle. Escobar stepped to the plate in the 9th inning needing a triple to complete the accomplishment and he got the job done. His incredible night drew <a href="https://www.mlb.com/news/eduardo-escobar-hits-for-cycle">honest takes from pitcher Carlos Carrasco and manager Buck Showalter. </a></p><p>Carrasco, who pitched 7 innings of dominant 2 run-ball while striking out 10, said the following in reference to Eduardo Escobar’s Cycle.</p><blockquote>“It was really fun to watch what he did today. To run for the triple, the homer, all that kind of stuff, I’m going to appreciate that.”</blockquote><p>Showalter then shared his thoughts on Escobar’s historic evening and what it meant to the Mets as a ball club.</p><blockquote>“For any guy, it’s fun to watch, but especially him. You know how much he means to his teammates. It’s almost like they hit it.”</blockquote><p>Escobar got brutally honest on what hitting for the Cycle means to him.</p><blockquote>“It’s unbelievable. It’s hard, hitting the cycle at this level. Today is a special night for me.”</blockquote><p>Getting a base hit alone is difficult enough in MLB with pitchers throwing moving 99 MPH fastballs on a consistent basis. So the fact that Escobar was able to accomplish what he did is extremely impressive.</p><p>The Mets ultimately cruised to an 11-5 win over the Padres behind Escobar’s feat and Carlos Carrasco’s excellent pitching performance. However, Arizona is driving a hard bargain:</p><blockquote>“They obviously have been talking,” Heyman said of the latest MLB trade rumors, via <a href="https://www.audacy.com/670thescore/sports/chicago-white-sox/heyman-diamondbacks-asking-for-a-lot-white-sox-eduardo-escobar-trade-talks">670 The Score</a>. “They are asking for a lot. My understanding is the names (Jake) Burger and (Zack) Collins have come up. I think they’re probably off the table. They’ve probably moved on to others…”</blockquote><p>Chicago’s <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/white-sox-two-best-trades-they-need-to-make-before-mlb-trade-deadline/">interest</a> in Escobar is hardly surprising.</p><p>The White Sox were already without key contributors in Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert before second baseman Nick Madrigal underwent season-ending surgery on his hamstring. Chicago needs offense ahead of MLB’s July 30 trade deadline, and Escobar would supply the South Siders with an infield power bat.</p><p>Escobar has a .779 OPS, with 17 homers and 52 RBI. He has been especially good in June, slashing .303/.346/.526 with four homers.</p><p>The Diamondbacks infielder will undoubtedly be a popular MLB trade deadline target. He’s a switch-hitter who can play multiple spots at a fairly high level and also has some speed on the bases. However, Arizona might not be able to sell too big in light of the fact Escobar will be a free agent at the end of the season.</p><p>Trade deadline season typically heats up around this time of year in Major League Baseball. Will the two clubs get a deal done, or is Arizona’s asking price too high? That remains to be seen.</p><p> </p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
