Top prospect Joey Bart was an exciting young player with a high ceiling. However, Bart struggled to the tune of a .156/.296/.300 slash line with a .596 OPS and four home runs.</p><p>His poor performance recently forced the Giants hand, as the team <a href="https://twitter.com/extrabaggs/status/1534578893218123777">officially optioned him to Triple-A on Wednesday</a>. San Francisco also acquired catcher Austin Wynns from the Phillies in a corresponding move.</p><p>Bart played 33 games during the 2020 season. He hit over .230 with an OPS upwards of .600. Although Bart did not set the world on fire, the Giants felt as if they had a budding star in their midst. However, Bart only received that opportunity because Posey opted not to play in 2020.</p><p>But Posey returned in 2021 and Joey Bart played in all of two MLB games as a result.</p><p>Bart once again received an opportunity in 2022 with Posey announcing his retirement during the offseason. But Bart has obviously failed to take advantage.</p><p>Speculation has begun to stir about the Giants <a href="https://twitter.com/StevenRissotto/status/1534578309199056896">potentially being interested in Chicago Cubs catcher Wilson Contreras.</a> Contreras is <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/yankees-rumors-new-yorks-interest-in-wilson-contreras-heating-up/">expected to be available at the trade deadline</a> since the Cubs are projected to be sellers. If the Giants are ready to move past Bart they could include him in a trade.</p><p>With that being said, Bart is still just 25 years old. Replacing a legend like Buster Posey takes time. So San Francisco may be inclined to give him another chance later this season.</p><p>Only time will tell what is next for the Giants and Joey Bart. For now, the young catcher will try to find his rhythm in the minor leagues.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

On the other hand, Molina <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/cardinals-yadier-molina-joins-legendary-company-after-his-key-rbi-hit-vs-giants/" rel="noopener">logged</a> the 1,000th RBI of his career during the second inning of the game.</p><p>On Posey’s part, he has long admired Molina’s lengthy run in the majors.</p><p>Posey took some time to <a href="https://twitter.com/NBCSGiants/status/1523112815191490560?s=20&amp;t=Q4PB7yDLXMno7DZ5-y99yw" rel="noopener">speak</a> during the NBC Sports Bay Area’s coverage of the clash between the Giants and Cardinals, where he touched on just what makes Molina a catcher who is simply “built differently.”</p><blockquote>“It’s incredible,” Posey said during the second inning of the contest. “I don’t know if we’re going to see it again, the fact that he can catch as many games as he does each year and still guide a pitching staff. The team held a “Buster Posey Day,” where former Giants players and coaches paid tribute to the career of the three-time World Series champion.</p><p>Posey also spoke at the scheduled pre-game ceremony. He went through many of his highs during his run with the Giants, including the team’s 2012 World Series run that included an NLCS win over the Cardinals.</p><p>When <a href="https://twitter.com/PavlovicNBCS/status/1523076939593912320?s=20&amp;t=E9SmSG3tk3RDDRtt4UDqaA" rel="noopener">reminiscing</a> on the Giants’ triumph over the Cardinals, he took somewhat of a subtle jab at St. Louis after noting that a “few guys that were on that team are still over there.”</p><blockquote>“It makes it special for me that the Cardinals are here today,” Posey said.</blockquote><p>The comment garnered plenty of oohs and ah’s from Giants fans in attendance, many of whom sure celebrated the team’s 3-1 series comeback against the Cardinals 10 years ago.</p><p>Posey did not necessarily shine for the Giants in the NLCS victory over the Cardinals, as he hit .154 and recorded a mere one RBI over the seven games. Nonetheless, he had the last laugh in the series, which was also the case two years later in the 2014 NLCS.</p><p>From the three World Series titles to the seven All-Star nods, Posey finished his <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-news-bruce-bochy-makes-a-strong-case-for-buster-poseys-hall-of-fame-candidacy/" rel="noopener">career</a> in San Francisco as one of the more prolific hitters in franchise history.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

He also commented about Posey representing just one team in his professional career, which Curry and Thompson can attest to with the Warriors.</p><p>Although it has not been announced that Posey is getting his jersey retired, the Giants will honor their former star’s retirement. He was one of the best hitters for championship-winning teams and was named an All-Star seven times in his 12-year career, all of which came in San Francisco. Posey won five Silver Slugger Awards, a Gold Glove Award, and a Rookie of the Year Award.</p><p>Unfortunately for Posey, the Giants are honoring him following a five-game losing streak. Posey is set to <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-news-buster-posey-to-retire-on-thursday/" rel="noopener">retire</a> after playing for the Giants since 2009.</p><p>After sitting out the 2020 season because of the COVID pandemic, Buster Posey hit .304 with 18 home runs. He helped lead the Giants to the NL West division winners</p><p>This adds to his collection of awards he has achieved throughout his career. Posey is a three-time World Champion, six-time All-Star, the 2012 National League MVP, four-time Silver Slugger Award winner, Gold Glove winner, and he was the Rookie of the Year.</p><p>He had an incredible career with the Giants that saw him hit .302 with 158 career home runs. He was able to add 729 RBIs. Posey is undoudbately going to be a Hall of Famer once he is eligible for the ballet.</p><p>What he has done for Giants throughout his career is something that will be hard for another Giant to replicate. Buster is going to go down as one of the best catchers of all time. What he was able to do in his age 34 season shows just how impressive his entire career has been.</p><p>This is a fitting reward for Posey as he says goodbye to the San Francisco Giants and Major League Baseball. The NL Comeback Player of the Year award is just the perfect send-off for Posey. He plans to spend time with his wife and kids.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
