He’s averaging 5.1 assists, but Redick believes he can post double-digit averages in the three major categories.</p><p>Via <a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/30736750/why-brandon-ingram-superstar-potential-matters">ESPN’s Zach Lowe</a>:</p><blockquote>Teammates have noticed Ingram moving the ball earlier, but it hasn’t resulted in the leap in assists his opening-night near triple-double against the Toronto Raptors portended.“That’s what you should average,” JJ Redick, a New Orleans guard, told Ingram after that game.Redick has been exhorting Ingram since last season that he might average a triple-double, and become a top-10 player.“I’m not gonna stop until I’m the best,” Ingram once replied.</blockquote><p>The 23-year-old has made massive strides since moving from Los Angeles to New Orleans as part of the Anthony Davis <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/lakers-news-brandon-ingram-opens-up-on-anthony-davis-rumors-that-killed-young-core/" rel="noopener">trade.</a></p><p>Ingram realized his All-Star potential last season, averaging 23.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists while shooting a career-high 39.1 percent from deep on 6.2 attempts per game.</p><p>The Duke product is averaging nearly a full assist higher per game through his first 12 appearances this year. But that 11-assist performance against the Raptors speaks to his combo guard skills in a forward frame.</p><p>Perhaps Ingram should take on greater usage. His <a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/i/ingrabr01.html#all_advanced">usage rate</a> has increased only slightly from last season, per Basketball-Reference.com, but it could take a leap over 30 percent for him to truly exert his full influence over the game and have a Russell Westbrook-type impact.</p><p>Of course, there is no telling higher usage would result in more winning. But Redick seems to believe Ingram should take over.</p><p>The Pelicans are off to a sluggish 5-7 start, so they will need Ingram to ramp his game up even more.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

While what he does in his leisure time is purely his business, it becomes problematic to do so when an NBA season is underway. Russell Westbrook, on the other hand, is a fearsome competitor.</p><p>As far as Perkins is concerned, Brodie was taken aback at how Harden likes to run things in H-Town. The Westbrook-Harden reunion last year had its moments and the Rockets still finished fourth in the West (44-28) despite the supposed turmoil between the two superstars. But Houston crashed and burned in the second round of the 2020 playoffs against eventual champions Los Angeles Lakers.</p><p>Westbrook has since been moved to the Washington Wizards for John Wall. <a href="https://foco.vegb.net/dbKJk" rel="noopener">A few months after that</a>, Harden’s wish to join the start-studded Brooklyn Nets squad also came to fruition. This bit of news also couldn’t come at the worst possible time after it was just confirmed that starting center Thomas Bryant is likely going to miss the remainder of the season after he <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/wizards-news-thomas-bryant-has-torn-acl-on-left-knee/">tore his ACL</a>.</p><p>The chemistry in this new-look Wizards unit hasn’t been there and key guys missing in the line-up will make it hard for the team to gel in a shortened 72-game season. Even though it was believed to be a new injury the Wizards guard sustained recently, Brooks is now saying that the veteran point guard has been experiencing pain to his quad since last month.</p><p>Westbrook missed Washington’s most recent game against the Miami Heat due to injuries to his quad and his finger. At the same time, the Wizards was without Bradley Beal due to the league’s health and safety protocols.</p><p>Brooks believes that Westbrook’s quad could improve with some rest, and so he is sitting his All-Star guard for at least a week. As a result, he’s set to miss games against the Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz and Detroit Pistons.</p><p>With that being said, it is worth noting that Westbrook wasn’t being listed on the injury report for his quad injury every game. The big man collided with some of Miami’s players, causing him to tear his ACL.</p><p>The Wizards already weren’t off to the best start of the season, so losing one of their bright spots definitely doesn’t aid in them turning things around. The 24-year old was averaging 14.3 points and 6.1 rebounds through 27.1 MPG. The fourth-year big was also connecting on 64 percent of his shots from the field on an average of 9.1 field goal attempts per game, detailing his efficiency.</p><p>Finding someone to replace Bryant’s productivity will be increasingly challenging for the Wizards front office. By season’s end, Bryant likely would’ve transformed himself into a formidable center given the trend his numbers were on through his first ten games.</p><p>Co-stars Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook simply haven’t been enough to get Washington over the hump more times than not this season.
