The San Antonio Spurs have had a lot of success in the past with international players and standouts from leagues outside of the NBA. From Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker, and Patty Mills, just to name a few, the team has believed in the ability of these players to excel at the highest level. That said, they signed another one recently, with the hopes of seeing him turn into a star someday.

It has been reported that the Spurs have agreed to terms on a guaranteed deal with one of the best players in this year’s Summer League, Brandon Paul.

The 6-foot-4 shooting guard impressed scouts while playing for the Cleveland CavaliersSummer League team. He spent last season playing for Turkish club Anadolu Efes, where he starred and proved himself as an efficient shooter from beyond the arc, making 41.5 percent of his shots from that distance.

Paul is an Illinois product and during his senior year averaged 16.6 points, on 40.1 percent field goal shooting. His addition to the Spurs will give them more depth at their guard rotation, and could fill in the void that will be left by Jonathon Simmons, as the team recently renounced his rights, making him an unrestricted free agent.
